Special Offers Available!As someone that is fairly new to photography, I had trouble choosing a camera that would be of benefit to me; this was largely due to the fact that I am not very savvy when it comes to the array of features that new models have these days. I went with the Nikon D5100 simply because I could not justify the expense of some of the other cameras on Amazon. After having used it for just a few days, I honestly feel that I could not have made a better choice.
As you would expect from Nikon, the quality of pictures is outstanding, but what I love the most is just how easy the D5100 is to use. I have had hours of fun taking random pictures and videos (video quality is also great) of anything and everything.
I suspect that this camera would not be suited to the more professional photographer and does feel a bit too “plasticky” compared to the more expensive Nikon cameras, however, I suppose that is to be expected. It also hard to find a 85mm+ lens at a decent price, although I can live without this for the time being as the packaged lens takes a damn good picture.
The bottom line is…for an amateur photographer, the Nikon D5100 is the ideal entry level camera. I would recommend it to anyone.
